The notion must be prospective because actual progress is always retrospectively established, and aspiring to see individuation be highly achieving (actualizing high talent) in terms of conceptual inclusive fitness can’t foretell its durability of influence (“demic efficacy”). Yet, conceptualizing a cultural facilitation of the generative cycle—enabling, achieving, contributing to greater individuation, greater achievement, and contribution to greater enabling—can be usefully detailed, if only for the sake of honoring intrinsic values of conceptual prospecting. An aspect of my notion of “universCity” that I didn’t mention above is that We are increasingly an Earthan singularity facing a cosmos of which We are a tiny member in a relatively young star system in a galaxy with millions of star systems likely hosting “life,” if not Absolute Others who know about Earth and are either uninterested or respectfully Silent. Such fantasy is certainly going to have its Day With Reality, such that humanity gains an epochal sense of cosmic relativity that will be “eternal,” but is unimaginable (except as godly mirroring of our comprehensibility—our unimpeachable aspiration for perfectibility which is just generative for Our evolving). So, We preserve the planet and advance intelligent life for the sake of heirs to humanity that we couldn’t understand, if they appeared from the future (like a contemporary Millennial whom is time machined back to pyramidal Egypt), because that’s what intelligent life does: It gives time for actualizing potential. Is the “Singularity near”? Is Our evolving to become a geoethics of governance by leading minds whose demophilia is post-human? In any case, the global challenges of flexlible, creative adaptability are to be evolutionary in ways that are post-natural, as we design our nature, becoming primordially self-designing.
