Oh, yes: sing and play! Enjoy whiling away free time aimlessly.

Yet, when all’s going well, a life may want to pursue sporting craft, even gaining excellence that’s called “art”—though authentic crafting goes its own way regard-
less of possible reception.

In particular, relative to ordinary life, conceptual venturing easily seems nebulous, oblique, opaque, “spiritual,” like winds personified, being an aimless poetic.

A conceptual player (philological, philosophical) intimates a Song of the Earth given to night, as if constellating careless stars without need of being heard.

After all, the point of flourishing is to be fun. So, the conceptual venturer is in secret league with aimless play?

Spirit, by the way, is—to my mind—enspirational: aspirational appeal, inspir-
ational cohering. Resultant excellence of a life, a personity (person-ality) of cyclical play—growing up, achieving a lot, paying forward, moving on—embodies cultural presence singularly, being manifoldly lucid telic cohering of its example.

Yet, the best presence of life in play echoes a spirit of ancestral efficacy of better humanity whose wind is more than literary now, more than historically philo-
sophical. The best presence is ultimately open in nature, requiring (I surmise) kinds of conceptual prospecting which has no given domain of comprehension because the best melding of humanities and sciences is trans-disciplinary, relative to traditional academic areas.

So, I prospect a notion of philology which is also unprecedented. It’s intrinsically futural by way of tropal ecospheres (conceptual pretenses and implicatures), by surrounds of better worldliness, better ways We are what We do, oriented by better humanity.

Ensuring fidelity to humanity’s ecologically flourishing futurity belongs to the entire array of humanities and sciences, calling (to my mind) for a conceptuality which is beyond philosophy (beyond teaching conceptual sophistication) which
no longer pretends to be a science.

The philology calls for comprehension which is unprecedented because the times are unprecedented. But the creativity which is most needed can only emerge through highly collaborative research, thinking and prospecting, not by individual creativity. Yet, highly collaborative thinking is only part of the scale of research and artistry which leads beyond academics to appropriately progressive policies in professions.

The business of any specialty can never be altogether foundational because scale of relevance is the business of all specialties, which seems to entail that any one inquirer’s ambitious venture can only trope the large scale of university/profes- sional interfaces. Everyone’s horizon is too small for the scale of evolving. So synergies of horizons are fated to be experimental relative to Time.

Inquirers search anyway for leading minds to convene at the edge of the world’s knowledge, but that always has its particular ending outstripped by emergent happenstance.

Hopefully, exemplifying high comprehension in progressive policy serves at best to further new generations facing unprecedented happenstance.

“Spirit” of the times now is merely an evolutionary trope in the highly spirited plays which may advance Our being in Time.
