For a situaional want of preference, the better situational comprehension (holism of understanding) warrants claiming that a proffered valuation or interpretation is better than an alternative one, thus justifying one’s motivating reason for choice as better than the given alternative. In other words, the better event of appropriation warrants the better valuation, interpretation, or preference. So, an appealing promise of comprehension is better insight and understanding; yet, to be so practically, albeit ambitiously: “I want the appeal of comprehensive-ness to yield fruitful promise of a proffered manifold (psychal to planetary) scale of flourishing” (a conceptual spirit of telos), though promise mirrored by idealiz- ation can never be wholly fulfilled because the generative effect of its appeal (like a rainbow) draws venturing further into ultimate openness. Nonetheless, some conceptions of holism—or pretenses of appropriate compre- hensive comprehension—are better than others, thus some orientations for valu- ation, interpretation, and choice are better than others, especially when one appellant idealization has been better conceived. So, the conceptuality of understanding can be the sufficient basis of appropria- tion, not some myth of ontology, because conceptuality can appropriately express engagement with Our evolving in terms of the allegedly tenable comprehensive comprehension of its pretense, not implicit essences. In short, some conceptual engagements are really better than others. That’s worth advocating for the sake of integral values motivating its ventures: conceptions of better life (wholly flourish-ing across the PCS continuum), thereby defining better humanity, better being. Especially appealing for me are good* constellations of better minds brought into interplay, venturing to embody creation of better conventions relative to emer- gent leading events (ever newly so). That’s standardly what academics does, of course; but understanding that as process can provide understanding how Our evolving works at the conceptual level: constellational cohering with fruitufully telic efficacy. (Ernest Sosa proffers a conception of “telic normativity” which I will appropriate into a trans-epistemic conceptual context.) A manifold artistry of living is called into play, where prospecting generative consilience appropriates scientific insight realtive to highly valuing better person-al life, good_ cultivational (educational) values, goodG socio-cultural life, and technological affordances controlled by a politics that is devotedly humane (recently including emerging need for strongly humane management of A.I.).
